Born Dec. 13, 1946, in Manchester, Kentucky, he was a son of the late Vincent Hoover and the late Addie Phillips Hoover. He retired from Burgess Brogdon Building Supply and the U.S. Postal Service.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years; a son, Patrick Daniel "Danny" Hoover Jr. of Sumter; and a granddaughter, Sarah Abbigail Hoover.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Ahtonen officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be Danny Hoover, Thomas Mayer and James Lowery.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home.
