PAUL ROBERT MINCY

PAMPLICO - Retired Tech. Sgt. Paul Robert Mincy, husband of the late Margaret A. Mincy, departed this life on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, at his home.

Born on June 18, 1939, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Daniel L. Mincey and Ruby Gibson Mincey. Mr. Mincy was a member of Crosspoint Baptist Church in Sumter. He was educated in the public schools of Chattanooga. He joined the U.S. Air Force on Nov. 19, 1956, and retired on May 31, 1977, after receiving numerous awards and citations. He started a new career in law enforcement with the Sumter County Correctional Center, which he retired from in 1994. He then worked with Santee Lynches Regional Jail, Korn Industries, Barton Security and the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

He leaves cherishing the memories of four children, Margaret M. Gebbia (Keith), Vicky M. Gaskins (Nelson), Teresa M. Stringfellow and Cassandra M. Lowery (Jimmy); 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Daniel L. Mincy; two sisters, Margaret V. Patterson and Betty J. McGasky; two sons-in-law; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a beloved son-in-law, Patrick Stringfellow; and two brothers, Henry Mincey and Mark Skipper Mincey.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. John Sorrells officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at 2 p.m. at the Florence National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Keith M. Gebbia Jr., Shaun D. Gebbia, David R. Gaskins, James L. Lowery Jr., Michael P. Lowery, Christopher J. Stringfellow and Jason Benenhaley.

Honorary pallbearers will be his other grandsons and great-grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 1700 S. Grapevine Road, Pamplico.
