Pedestrian dies from hit and run incident Sunday morning

Sumter County emergency personnel were called to Ellerbe Mill Road in Rembert early Sunday morning on a report of a pedestrian hit and run incident, according to Sumter County Coroner's office. The call came in at 12:40 a.m.

Coroner Robert M. Baker Jr. said the pedestrian, Dwain Andrew Wright, 56, of Rembert was dead on arrival as a result of the incident.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident and an autopsy on Wright's body will be performed Monday.
