South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a Lee County fatality after a 62-year-old woman was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking in a roadway on Sunday evening.

SCHP Lance Cpl. David Jones said the pedestrian - identified as Sheila Mack Wilson of Dalzell by Lee County Coroner Larry Logan - was headed south in the northbound land of Woodrow Road when she was hit.

The driver of a 2007 Honda struck Wilson when attempting to go around another vehicle while traveling south on Woodrow Road, he said.

"This is not a weather-related fatality," Jones said.

This incident is under investigation by SCHP and the SCHP Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team.
