Pinewood woman killed; suspect charged

A 40-year-old Pinewood man has been charged with murder after police say a 35-year-old Pinewood woman was killed Sunday afternoon during what investigators believe was a domestic dispute, according to Sumter County Sheriff Anthony Dennis.

Dennis said deputies have charged Christopher Bryan Rodko, 40, of 6770 Rooster Circle in Pinewood with the killing of Ginger McLeod, 35, of 5690 Rooster Circle in Pinewood. Sumter County Coroner Harvin Bullock said McLeod died of a gunshot wound, and an autopsy will be done Monday at Newberry Pathology Associates. Dennis said McLeod was found shot multiple times.

Dennis said the incident took place around 5 p.m. and is believed to have started with an altercation between McLeod and her sister. Dennis said the situation turned fatal after the suspect reportedly tried to break up the fight. Dennis said the incident remains under investigation by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.
