Sumter police responded to Sumter High School at the end of the school day Friday after some students reportedly got into a fight at the bus stop.
Students were lining up for bus pickup shortly before 4 p.m. when four male students under the age of 17 got into a fight. School resource officers responded and called for backup units to help maintain order at the crowded scene.
Two to three patrol units arrived on the scene, which a police spokesman said was a normal level of response to incidents at the school because of the size of the student population.
No injuries were reported from the dustup, and the students involved will be processed through the juvenile justice system, police say.
