Sumter police are searching for a 71-year-old man who went missing Monday while he was en route to the Sumter Family YMCA on Miller Road.

Andrew Paul Boyle, of Foxcroft Circle, left his home about 9 a.m., according to Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for the Sumter Police Department. A report indicates he called his wife about 15 minutes or so later, but he has not been seen or heard from since.

Police and family members are worried about his whereabouts because of his medical history, McGirt said in a news release.

Boyle is 6 feet 7 inches tall, weighs about 205 pounds and has white hair and blue eyes.

It is unclear what he was wearing when he left home.

The vehicle he was driving is a silver 2006 Toyota Camry with South Carolina license plate tag NMV212.

Anyone who may have seen Boyle or knows where he is should call the police department at (803) 436-2700. In case of an emergency, dial 911.
