The Network Organization of Women Inc. will hold a free legal workshop with the South Carolina Legal Aide Services from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31, at the Sumter County Library, 11 N. Harvin St.
Legal topics covered at the workshop will include: landlord and tenant; foreclosure; probate; and family law (divorce, custody, foster care, etc.). Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, learn what their rights and responsibilities are and understand what legal aid/financial services may be available to those in need. NOW Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides crisis prevention and supportive social services for Sumter, Clarendon and Lee counties. Services include legal and medical advocacy programs and supportive social services/referral programs that assist families and individuals with rental/mortgage assistance, food pantry/meals on wheels programs, utility assistance and community outreach programs and events.
