RICHARD SOLOMON

Richard Solomon was born on Aug. 30, 1951, to the late Freddie Sr. and Bessie Ruth Jones Solomon. He entered eternal rest on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at home surrounded by his family.

Richard accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and was a longtime faithful member of Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church. Richard was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and was a 1969 graduate of Lincoln High School and pursued further studies at Central Carolina Technical College. Richard was employed by Campbell Soup Co. for 21 years and Eaton Corp. as a switchboard coordinator for 21 years. He retired in May 2015 due to recent health conditions.

Richard leaves to cherish his loving memories: his wife of the home, Ida Alexandria; a son, Capt. Dwayne L. (Karina) Solomon of Brussels, Belgium; a daughter, Francesca Illisha (Alexx K.) Franklin of Mableton, Georgia; nine grandchildren; two brothers, O'Neal (Dorothy) Solomon and Roger (Gloria Jean) Solomon, both of Sumter; sisters-in-law, Delilah Jeffers Solomon of Tampa, Florida, Martha Burns of Columbia and Betty Faye Brogdon of Pennsylvania; brother-in-law, Herbert Henry (Charlene); aunts and uncles, Geneva Jones, Eddie Clark Jr. (Juanita), Charles (Rosa) Seymour and Alexander (Denise) White; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Solomon will be placed in the church at 9 a.m. on Saturday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Jehovah Missionary Baptist Church, 805 S. Harvin St., Sumter, SC 29150 with Pastor Marion H. Newton, senior pastor and eulogist, and Pastor Ricky Simmons presiding. Interment will follow at Sumter Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. daily at the home, 3030 Tamarah Way, Sumter, SC 29154.
