Robert "Bob" C. Letcher, 89, loving husband of Marie Rose Letcher, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia.

Born on June 2, 1929, in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Clarence and Margaret Viola Letcher. He proudly served in the military for four years in the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean War. Upon return from service, he married Marie in September of 1953. After their wedding, Bob took his new bride and moved to sunny South Florida. There he was a successful automobile mechanic, owning and operating several service stations. He was very active in the Catholic community in Miami, serving as president of the Men's Club at St. James Catholic Church for many years. They lived in Florida until they retired and moved to South Carolina in 2008.

Mr. Letcher was also a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and was a former fourth degree Knights of Columbus member. He will be remembered for his witty banter, his sly smiles and his unwavering support of his Miami Dolphins, but mostly for his faith in God and his abundant love for his family.

Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years; two daughters, Patricia Trzcinski (Franklin) of Sumter and Lisa Lyons (James) of Vancouver, Washington; one sister, Joan McDonald; four sisters-in-law, Roberta Rose, Shirley Ginther, Esther Runkle and Patty Rose; one brother-in-law, William Rose Sr.; five grandchildren, Kristin O'Brien (Christopher), Jennifer Given (Samuel), Laura Girard (Jake), Forrest Glembo and Hope Glembo; three great-granddaughters, Macie and Sophie O'Brien and Liza Ann Girard; one great-grandson, Henry O'Brien; his beloved four-legged buddy, Charlie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Letcher.

The family wishes to express deep appreciation to Dr. Christopher Mahr, Dr. Michael Naylor, Lauren Scott, FNP and Laurin Lee, FNP for their care and support. The family would also like to thank the therapy and nursing staff at National Health Care and Covenant Place for their extraordinary love and care for this past year.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church with the Rev. Rufino Madridejos Jr. officiating.

The family will receive friends and family following the mass on Saturday at the home of his daughter, 310 Mallard Drive.
