Robert Conner, 71, was born on Dec. 9, 1945, in Horry County, a son of the late David Conner Sr. and Lula Mae Stanley Conner. He passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

He was educated in the public schools of Horry County. He was employed with the City of Sumter for 21 years, until his health began to decline. Robert accepted Christ as his personal Savior and joined Saint Mark United Methodist Church.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Elizabeth Conner of Sumter; two daughters, Lakoya Conner and Kendra Conner, both of Sumter; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, David Conner Jr., Tony Conner and JC (Rosa) Conner, all of Loris; three brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Homegoing services will be held at 3 p.m. today at St. Mark United Methodist Church, 1093 Oswego Highway, Sumter, with the Rev. Geneva Stafford, pastor, eulogist.
The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 130 E. Moore St., Sumter.
The remains will be placed in the church at 2 p.m.
The procession will leave at 2:15 p.m. from the home.
Burial will be at St. Mark United Methodist Church cemetery.
