Mr. Rodney Lee Hatcher, affectionately known as "Chicken wing," son of the late Charlie Frank and Ida Mae Nelson Hatcher was born on March 6, 1978, in Clarendon County.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Lee Nelson and Marcy Hatcher Sr.

On Sept. 26, 2018, after a life well lived he traded his labor for reward.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories a brother, Wilbur A. Hatcher; a sister, Deloris Hatcher (Sam); his fiance, Lakeisha Brogdon; two step-daughters, Destiny Moses and Faith Brogdon; seven nephews, Brandon McCormick, Kwamae Johnson, Justin Stephen, Dariyan Hatcher, Quamayne Hatcher, Ansley Johnson and Marcy Hatcher Jr; four nieces, Ka-Vone (Donnavan) Pinckney, Santanna K Crosby, Keisha Stephen and MyKayla Hatcher; a special niece whom he raised, Santaje Hatcher; 20 great-nieces and great-nephews; two sisters-in-law, Latirsha Nelson and Theresa Hatcher; three special sisters, Demetria Johnson, Calandra Junious and Lavonda (Ira) Gary; five uncles, Marion (Gloria) Hatcher, Marvin (Monica) Hatcher, the Rev. Amos (Bert) Hatcher, Michael Hatcher and Richard Nelson; six aunts, Fannie Johnson, the Rev. Sarah (Isaiah) Bennett, Marie (Earl) Milton, Lucille (James) Junious, Ethel (Sam) Bennett and Marie Nelson; a great-aunt, Eunice Jackson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at at 2 p.m. on Monday at Antioch R.M.U.E. Church, 11096 Governor Richardson Road in Pinewood, the Rimini community, with elder DuWine Sinkler as pastor and the Rev. Sarah Bennett as eulogist.

Interment will follow in the Spring Grove Cemetery.

A public viewing will be held today from 1 to 6 p.m. at the mortuary.

The family is receiving friends at Donnavan and KaVone Pinckney, 217 Weatherly Road in Sumter.

Services are entrusted to Whites Mortuary LLC in Sumter.
