Born on June 21, 1952, in Kershaw County, he was a son of the late Roosevelt Dixon Sr. and Willie Lee Peay Dixon Cunningham. His early Christian upbringing was at Ephesus United Methodist Church, Lugoff, and Faith Tabernacle Baptist Church, Queens, New York.
He will be remembered by two daughters, Tanya Brown (Shabazz) and Teresa S. Smith, both of Queens; one son, Sharhibur Smith (Eleria) of Orlando, Florida; three grandsons; one great-grandson; two sisters, Ida Alston and Cynthia Phillips, both of Lugoff; one brother, Jeffrey Cunningham; one uncle; three aunts; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family received relatives and friends at the home of his sister, Ida Alston, 222 Ward Road, Lugoff.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Unity United Methodist Church, 1332 Fort Jackson Highway, Lugoff. The Rev. Tyrell Omar Brown officiated and served as eulogist.

Burial was at Unity Memorial Garden, Lugoff.
These services have been entrusted to the management and staff of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter.
