Sumter, Lee and Clarendon closings, schedule changes announced

Sumter School District will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 3, because of the extremely cold temperatures and the threat of worsening weather. The district announced in a news release: "The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we will continue to monitor the weather conditions in conjunction with emergency management officials." 


All Clarendon School District 2 faculty, staff and students are to report to school at their regular scheduled time on Wednesday. However, due to the threat of inclement weather, all CSD2 schools will dismiss early on Wednesday. Dismissal will be as follows: Monarch Academy, 10:30 a.m.; Manning Primary School, 11:15 a.m.; Manning Elementary School, 11:20 a.m.; Manning Junior High School, 11:35 a.m.; and Manning High School, 11:50 a.m.

Lee County School District has canceled school for students on Wednesday, Jan. 3. All teachers and staff will be dismissed at 11 a.m. The district apologizes for any inconvenience that this update has caused.

All of the Sumter Family Health Center offices will close at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Offices include: Sumter Family Health Center; Carolina Women's Specialists; Pinewood Health Center; and Carolina Dental Associates.
