Senior Kappa Affairs chairman appointed

Kenneth L. Benjamin, vice polemarch of the Bishopville/Manning/Shaw AFB Alumni Chapter, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., has been appointed the Senior Kappa Affairs chairman for the Southeastern Province, according to a news release.

The Southeastern Province consists of 42 chapters from South Carolina, Georgia, South Africa and Pretoria. Benjamin will also represent the Southeastern Province as a member of the National Senior Kappa Affairs Committee at the 84th Grand Chapter in Philadelphia.

Benjamin will be responsible for retaining and reclaiming members of the fraternity who are 60 years of age and older as active, contributing, fully financial brothers. He will also be responsible for encouraging programs that will facilitate involvement, enhance the well-being and encourage involvement in community services that are geared toward senior citizens.

Benjamin was initiated into the Sumter Chapter in 1985. He has been married to the former Dianne Robinson for 47 years.

He has one daughter, Kenya (Ian), and two granddaughters, Jazzmine and Kai.
