Shaw Air Force Base evacuating F-16s ahead of Hurricane Michael
Shaw Air Force base is now operating at a Hurricane Condition 2 (HURCON 2), which indicates destructive winds are possible within 24 hours, and has evacuated its F-16 CM Fighting Falcon aircraft in preparation for Hurricane Michael.
The base will maintain normal operating status through Wednesday, Oct. 10.
The base will operate under mission-essential reporting duty status beginning Thursday, Oct. 11, according to the 20th Public Affairs Office.
Civilian personnel are authorized administrative leave beginning at 2 p.m. on Wednesday. For further reporting instructions, contact your supervisor.
The 20th Medical Group, including the BX Pharmacy, will be closed on Thursday. Oct. 11.
