SHEDRICK BURK V
Shedrick Burk V, 36, husband of Laquetta Burk, departed this life on Friday, Nov. 16, 2018, at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence.
He was born on Jan. 29, 1982, in Grand Forks, North Dakota, a son of Shedrick M. Burk IV and Gwendolyn Phillips Burk. He graduated from Sumter High School in 2000, attended Benedict College and then joined the United States Air Force. After returning to Sumter, he was employed by Piggly Wiggly, Fresh Market, City of Sumter and Shaw Air Force Base.
"Ricky," as he was affectionately called, loved to fish and spend time with his beloved family. He enjoyed cooking and was a die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys, in which he traveled to several games.
His legacy will be continued by his devoted wife, Laquetta; his loving children, Kaiel, Gabriel and Aubrielle; his loving mother, Gwendolyn; father, Shedrick IV (Sonia); brothers, Philip M. Burk and Alex Burk; a sister, Victoria Burk; niece, Sophia; grandmother, Cora Burk; mother-in-law, Loretta (David) Brown; and a host of uncles, aunts, other relatives and friends.
Mr. Burk will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. today for viewing until the hour of service.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave., Sumter, SC 29150 with Dr. Joann P. Murrill officiating. Interment will follow at Pearson Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of his mother, 923 Ridgehill Drive, Sumter, SC 29154.
