Sherry was born on Oct. 25, 1955, in Chicago, a daughter of the late Eula D. Walker and Leon Madison. Sherry attended and graduated from Martin Luther King Jr. High School in 1973. Sherry was joined in holy matrimony to Robert Maple. At an early age, she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior. Years later, she became a faithful member of Bethesda Church of God of Sumter. Sherry's faith in God remained consistent and strong even while dealing with life's trials and tribulations.
Sherry leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Robert Maple; two loving daughters, Katrina L. Dawson of Chicago and Zuri I. Jackson of Sumter; one son, Michael J. Dawson of Chicago; two sisters, Diane Mitchell of Cape May, New Jersey, and Sharon Wallers of Chicago; four brothers, Cedric Walker of Chicago, Greg Walker of Pennsylvania, Ricky Walker and Steven Walker; a special niece, Shuron Wallers of Chicago; six grandchildren, Zhane (Tink), Lauren, Ericka, Jurne, Jules and Adonnis; and a host of extended relatives, in-laws and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Salem Chapel & Heritage Center, 101 S. Salem Ave., Sumter, with Pastor Sims and Pastor Wesley Maple officiating.
The family will receive friends at the home, 4076 Patriot Parkway, Sumter, SC 29154.
Job's Mortuary Inc., 312 S. Main St., Sumter, is in charge of arrangements.
