Sidney Jackson, 79, was born on April 8, 1939, in Sumter County, a son of the late Dorothy Jackson, and was raised in the home of his grandparents, Oneal and Hattie Jackson.

He entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018.Sidney received his formal education in the public schools of Sumter County. He was employed for many years and retired from Bridges Construction. He was a member of St. Mark 4B Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Sammie D. Simmons.

Sidney leaves to cherish his precious memories: four children; two special siblings that he grew up with, Thomasina Tomlin and Susie Willis, both of Sumter; a special cousin, James Houck Jr. of Sumter; a special niece, Donna Dupree of Sumter; one sister-in-law, Verlena Jackson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Homegoing services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St., Sumter, with Elder David Jackson officiating, eulogist. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park, 802 N. Guignard Drive, Sumter.
