Sumter soccer beats Camden 4-1

The Sumter High School varsity boys soccer team improved to 6-2 on the season with a 4-1 victory over Camden on Tuesday at the SHS field.

Conner McAlister led the Gamecocks with two goals. Chris Reyes had a goal and an assist, while Travis Disher had a goal and Noah Chase had an assist.

Thomas Koty and Roman Childers led the SHS defensive effort.

Sumter opens its Region VI-5A schedule on Friday in Myrtle Beach against Socastee.

VARSITY BOYS GOLF

Sumter finishes sixth

SUMMERVILLE - Sumter High School finished sixth out of 19 teams in the Patriot Invitational held on Sunday and Monday at Wescott Plantation.

The Gamecocks finished with a 36-hole score of 663.

Evans Lewis led SHS with 2-round score of 155, good for a tie for fifth place. Bradley Colture shot a 166 and tied for 24th.

JV BASEBALL

Lakewood 3

Lake City 0

Daniel Young, Travis Pillsbury and Johnathan Bryant combined to toss a shutout as Lakewood High School defeated Lake City 3-0 on Monday at the LHS field.

Young pitched three innings, striking out and four allowing one hit. Pillsbury struck out three in one inning of work. Bryant pitched three innings, striking out two.

AC McKinnon, Dayven McLeod, Jacob Ingram and Jay Thompson each had a hit for the Gators.

Clarendon Hall 3

Holly Hill 0

HOLLY HILL - Clarendon Hall improved to 3-0 with a 3-0 victory over Holly Hill Academy on Tuesday at Raider Field.

Blane Kennard got the win, pitching four innings and striking out six while allowing just one walk and one hit.

The Saints were led offensively by TJ Curlee, who was 2-for-2 with three RBI. Brantley Hodge also had two hits.

Clarendon Hall 17

Holly Hill 1

HOLLY HILL - Clarendon Hall improved to 2-0 with a 17-1 victory over Holly Hill Academy on Tuesday at the HHA field.

Amberly Way got the win in the circle, allowing just one hit while striking out eight. She was also 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI.

Hannah Johndrow also went 3-for-3 for the Lady Saints. Mcie McIntosh had two hits and two RBI, Wells James had two hits, Olivia Wilson had two RBI and Colleen McIntosh had an RBI.
