Sumter City Council to consider contract for Manning Avenue project

Sumter City Council will meet at 1 p.m. today in City Council Chambers, fourth floor of Sumter Opera House, 21 N. Main St., to consider:

- Second and final reading of an ordinance to rezone .30 acres at 702 N. Main St. from residential-6 to neighborhood commercial for the possible development of a hair salon;

- Final reading of an ordinance to amend portions of the city's Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance to adopt the Wateree Watershed Maps and Flood Insurance Study revisions that will go into effect on Sept. 28. The amendments will also include corrections and clarifications noted in the 2017 South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Community Assistance Visit and the Community Rating System Cycle Visit;

- First reading of an ordinance related to the recovery of collection costs as part of delinquent debts collected pursuant to the Setoff Debt Collection Act;

- First reading of an ordinance to be known as the Burn Ordinance of the city of Sumter;

- A resolution to authorize a contract for the Manning Avenue Sewer Replacement Project. The project will include portions of Manning Avenue from the Manning Avenue Bridge to Andrews Street;

- A resolution to approve the acquisition of temporary construction easements to connect the Town of Mayesville Wastewater Treatment System to the city of Sumter's sewer system; and

- A resolution to declare the intent of the city to reimburse itself for certain expenditures with proceeds of tax-exempt obligations to the incurred by the city.

Council will also view a presentation from the Midlands Fatherhood Coalition.
