Sumter City Council to meet Tuesday

Sumter City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. in City Council Chambers, Sumter Opera House, 21 N. Main St., to consider first reading of an ordinance to annex 8.21 acres of land at 1501 Camden Highway and first reading of an ordinance regarding a lease-purchase agreement for vehicles and equipment not to exceed $1,407,000.

Council will begin holding public hearings at 6 p.m. where it will listen to comments regarding:

  • The Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) which details how the city of Sumter utilized $291,838 in entitlement money between April 1, 2017, and March 31, 2018;
  • The city's proposed 2019 fiscal year budget;
  • First reading of a request to rezone 8.21 acres at 1501 Camden Highway from agricultural conservation to general commercial;
  • First reading of a rquest ot rezone two .17-acre parcels at 200 and 202 W. Williams St. from residential-6 to general residential;
  • First reading of an oridnance to rezone 9.72 acres between 2810 and 2850 Broad St. from planned development to general commercial; and
  • First reading of a request to amend the city's development regulations for mini-storage warhouse development as well as a major site plan for a mini-storage site at 430 Constitution Drive.
