Sumter County Council to consider final vote to transfer land to BD

Sumter County Council will meet at 6 p.m. today in County Council Chambers, Sumter County Administration Building, 13 E. Canal St., to consider:

- Third and final reading of a request to amend the county zoning and development ordinance to add elementary and secondary schools as conditional uses in the professional office, neighborhood commercial, limited commercial and general commercial zoning districts;

- Third reading of a request to amend the county zoning and development ordinance to remove the used motor vehicle parts classification as a permitted, conditional or special exception use in all county zoning districts except the heavy industrial district;

- Third reading of a request to rezone two parcels at 2800 Dock Road and 0 Thomas Sumter Highway, totaling 2.45 acres, from general commercial and agricultural conservation to just agricultural conservation;

- Third reading of an ordinance to authorize the transfer of property on Jefferson Road to Becton, Dickinson and Co.;

- Third reading of an ordinance to authorize the appointment of code enforcement officers by appointment;

- First reading of a request to rezone 3.91 acres at 4690 Thomas Sumter Highway from general commercial and agricultural conservation to light industrial-warehouse;

- A resolution to appoint and commission code enforcement officers for the proper security, general welfare and convenience of Sumter County. Action on this resolution will be deferred until council takes action on a related ordinance that would give council the authority to appoint code enforcement officers.

- Approval of county council’s 2019 meeting calendar; and

- Approval of county council’s 2019 employees holiday calendar.
