Sumter County Council will hold a special called meeting at 5 p.m. today in County Council Chambers, third floor of Sumter County Administration Building, 13 E. Canal St., to continue its discussion of Sumter School District’s request for a 5.48 mill increase.
Council’s regular scheduled meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in County Council Chambers where members will consider a resolution to accept the school district’s request, equal to about $1 million.
County council will also:
• Consider second reading of an ordinance to approve the revised Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center contract;
• Consider first reading of an ordinance to amend portions of the county’s development standards to allow certain fluttering devices, including feather devices, on county property; and
• Receive a presentation from Sumter City-County Planning Department regarding Sumter’s 2040 Comprehensive plan which requires public input for future development of the county.
