Sumter County Council to hold public hearings for road transfers

Sumter County Council will meet at 6 p.m. today in County Council Chambers, third floor of Sumter County Administration Building, 13 E. Canal St., to consider:

- Second reading of three of an ordinance to amend the county's flood damage prevention ordinance to adopt the Wateree Watershed Maps and Flood Insurance Study revisions that will go into effect on Sept. 28 and to update the ordinance to make corrections and clarifications noted in the 2017 South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Community Assistance Visit and Community Rating System Cycle Visit. A public hearing will be held prior to council vote; and

- Second reading of five separate ordinances to authorize the transfer of Ohana Circle, Forest Drive Cul-De-Sac, parts of Winston Road, parts of Earle Street and Alpenglow Court to the respective adjoining property owners. Council will hold a public hearing prior to voting on each ordinance.

County council will also:

- Recognize the top fundraising participants of the Sumter County Heart Walk;

- Receive an update about Santee-Wateree Regional Transportation Authority and Sumter County Veterans Affairs Ridership program; and

- Receive a presentation from Jasmine Brown, community outreach coordinator for the Center for Heirs Property Preservation.

Other public meetings

- Sumter County Forfeited Land Commission will meet at 5:30 p.m. today in County Council Conference Room, third floor of Sumter County Administration Building, 13 E. Canal St., to discuss one new case item during regular session and two contractual matters during an executive session.

- Sumter County Fiscal, Tax and Property Committee will meet at 5:45 p.m. today in County Council Conference Room to receive a regular financial update about the county.
