Sumter County woman, 33, charged with falsely collecting payment for rental property

Sumter County Sheriff's Office arrested a 33-year-old woman Monday for allegedly falsely collecting payment for property she claimed to own.

Meredith Sloan West, of Allen Drive, is accused of taking $1,000 from another person as payment for rental property West that was not hers. The incident took place on Brittany Drive on on June 22.

West is charged with obtaining property under false pretenses.

She was transported to Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center before she was released after making a $1,000 surety bond.
