A 26-year-old Sumter man was killed this weekend when his motorcycle crashed in Lee County.

Marquis Lee Lewis, who would have turned 27 next week, died from injuries sustained during a single-vehicle wreck on S.C. 441/Woodrow Road at the intersection with Rembert Church Road, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Matt Southern. The Lee County Coroner's Office confirmed Lewis was from Orange Street in Sumter.

Lewis was traveling south on Rembert Church Road just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Southern said, when he disregarded a stop sign and crashed his Honda motorcycle onto the roadway. He was ejected and was not wearing a helmet.

The incident remains under investigation.
