South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest of Ricky Leroy Singer Jr. of Sumter on seven charges connected to the exploitation of a minor.

Singer, 34, was arrested on Oct. 5 after investigators received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children which led them to Singer.

A news release from the attorney general's office states that Singer allegedly possessed and distributed multiple files of child pornography.

Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force investigators with Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and ICAC investigators with the attorney general's office worked together during the investigation.

The release states that Singer is charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, second degree, which is a felony offense punishable by up to 10 years' imprisonment; and six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree, a felony offense punishable by no more than 10 years' imprisonment for each count.

The case will be prosecuted by the attorney general's office.
