Sumter man charged for possessing stolen trailer

Sumter County Sheriff's Office has arrested two men for allegeldy possessing trailers that were reportedly stolen from a construction company.

Robert Edward Watford, 44, of Edna Road in Manning, was arrested on Sunday after authorities spotted him with a Monty Utility Dump Trailer, valued at $3,000, while in the 4200 block of Broad Street in Sumter on June 28.

Both trailers reportedly belong to Watson’s Construction Company.

Investigators also obtained video implicating Watford and a co-defendant in the theft of the trailers.

A news release from Sumter County Sheriff's Office states a Monty Utility Dump Trailer, valued at $3,000, was found in Ard's possession while at a location in the 3500 block of Ramsey Road. The trailer reportedly belongs to Watson’s Construction Company.

Ard told investigators he did not know the trailer was stolen and identified the people who gave him the trialer, states the release.
