With the assistance of the state Highway Patrol's Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team, Sumter police are continuing to investigate after a pedestrian was struck by a pickup truck at about 8 p.m. Thursday on Boulevard Road, just south of Hauser Street. The pedestrian was in the roadway at the time of the collision.
Michelle Dinkins, 44, of Sumter was taken to Palmetto Health Richland where she later died of her injuries.
The 67-year-old driver of a 1996 Dodge Ram was not injured.
In an unrelated crash, Clarence Davis III, 20, of Florence died Thursday at Palmetto Health Richland after being injured when he lost control of his 2003 Honda motorcycle and struck a tree in the parking lot of a Broad Street business after 6:30 p.m.
