Sumter Police Department needs the public’s help in locating three of four suspects involved in a shooting this weekend that left one man injured.

Willie Terrel Peeples, 48, of Dixie Drive, was arrested Monday and charged with attempted murder, states a release from the police department. He is being held in the Sumter-Lee Regional Detention Center.

Three other suspects — Jaqwon Danik Gagum, 26, last known address of Swinton Road, Conway; and Janie Iraisha Johnson, 25, and Montez Johnson, 28, both of Brand Street, Sumter — also face attempted murder charges.

On Sunday, police responded to a residence on Dixie Drive where a 34-year-old man said he had been shot in the lower body just before 10:30 a.m.

The victim was taken by a private vehicle to Palmetto Health Tuomey and is now recovering, states the release.

A preliminary investigation indicates the shooting resulted from a domestic-related argument that turned physical.

After the incident, one of the suspects walked away while the others left together in a light-colored vehicle, according to the release.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of the three suspects is asked to call Sumter Police Department at (803) 436-2700 or leave an anonymous tip by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC, toll free.

A cash reward may be available for information leading to an arrest.
