Sumter sheriff's office searching for man wanted for alleged jewelry theft

Sumter County Sheriff's Office is searching for a 37-year-old man who investigators think was involved in a burglary where hundreds of dollars' worth of jewelry was stolen in October.

Michael David Rondeau is accused of entering a residence in the 5900 block of Acton Road on Oct. 1 and taking two gold diamond rings with a combined value of $500, a gold watch valued at $200 and other assorted jewelry valued at $200.

The victim told responding deputies that the suspect forced open the carport door to gain entry to her residence, according to an incident report.

Rondeau is described as a bald man with brown eyes who is about 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds.

A cash reward may be available for information that leads to an arrest.
