Sumter TD Club meeting, Wilson Hall game cancelled

The Sumter Touchdown Club's weekly breakfast meeting and Wilson Hall's football game against Hammond in Columbia both scheduled for Friday have been cancelled due to the threat of Hurricane Florence.

Since the City of Sumter will be closed on Friday, the Swan Lake Visitors Center will be unavailable to the touchdown club.

The touchdown club is set to resume its schedule on Friday, Sept. 21. The Hammond-Wilson Hall contest will not be rescheduled..

Also, Wilson Hall has cancelled its other athletic events scheduled for Thursday.

VARSITY GIRLS TENNIS

Florence Christian 0

Wilson Hall defeated Florence Christian School 5-0 on Tuesday at Palmetto Tennis Center.

The Lady Barons improved to 6-1 on the season.

2 - Shelby Guldan (WH) defeated Alexis Aikens 6-0, 6-0.

3 - Lizzy Davis (WH) defeated Bailee Sawyer 6-0, 6-0.

4 - Carly Allred (WH) defeated Chloe Canavati 6-0, 6-0.

5 - Bella Land (WH) defeated Alyssa Spurling 6-0, 6-0.

VARSITY VOLLEYBALL

FLORENCE - Wilson Hall lost its region opener on Tuesday, falling to Florence Christian School 3-0 at the FCS gymnasium.

Florence Christian won by the scores of 25-14, 25-11, 25-8.

Sydney Jarecki led the Lady Barons, 5-12 overall, with 12 digs and four kills.

JV FOOTBALL

Sumter 55

Lakewood 0

Sumter High School defeated Lakewood 55-0 on Thursday, Sept. 6, at Sumter Memorial Stadium.

Ryan McCants threw four touchdown passes and Lodaine Redwood scored four touchdowns. Myles Caper scored two touchdowns, while Javier Hennit and Nyquan Thames scored one apiece.
