Sumter teen found safe after not arriving home Sunday

Man was visiting relative nearby before he was reported missing

Police said Monday evening via social media that a teenager who did not make it home after spending time with family in Sumter has been found and is safe with a family member.

Christopher Alexander Benenhaley, 17, was expected to return to his Stuckey Street home on Sunday after spending a week with a relative on Mason Croft Drive but never arrived, according to the Sumter Police Department.

In its Facebook post, the department said he is with a relative and thanked those who helped in the search for Benenhaley.
