The Gamecocks, who are 5-1 on the season, were No. 7 in last week's 5A poll. They are sixth - well, tied for the spot - this week after beating South Florence 31-20 in their Region VI opener.
Sumter is tied for sixth with Spartanburg, which jumped up from No. 9 after beating previously unbeaten and second-ranked Byrnes 21-14.
Byrnes dropped to No. 5.
Lee Central remained at No. 6 in the 2A poll after its 33-7 victory over North Central. The five teams in front of the 6-1 Stallions stayed the same. The only change was Carvers Bay took sole possession of third and Cheraw was fourth after they were tied for third last week.
Manning broke into the 3A poll at No. 6 last week with its 6-0 start. However, it lost its Region VII opener to Hanahan 34-28 on Friday. Still, the Monarchs remained in the poll at No. 9.
The No. 1 teams in each of the five classifications remained the same even though one suffered its first loss of the season.
Abbeville, the defending 2A state champion and ranked No. 1 all season, lost to Hartsville 28-21 on Friday in Newberry. The Red Foxes are ranked third in the 4A poll.
Hartsville is a Region VI foe of both Lakewood and Crestwood. The Gators play host to the Foxes on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Abbeville had been a unanimous No. 1 pick all season. However, it received just 10 of the 15 first-place votes this week. Undefeated and No. 2 Barnwell got the other votes.
Fort Dorchester in 5A and South Pointe in 4A were unanimous No. 1 picks. Chapman got 14 votes in 3A with No. 2 Dillon getting the other one, while top-ranked Lamar got 14 first-place votes in the 1A poll. Once-beaten No. 3 Lewisville got the other first-place vote while undefeated Hemingway is No. 2.
Sumter is joined in the 5A poll by Region VI foe Conway, which held steady at No. 8.
Manning, which is off this week, is joined by Region VII foe Timberland in the 3A poll. Timberland dropped from No. 8 to 10th despite a 56-0 victory over Lake Marion.
Lee Central now has only two other Region IV foes with it in the 2A poll, Cheraw at No. 4 and Buford at No. 9.
Chesterfield fell out after a 28-21 loss to Central on Friday. Both of those teams received votes. Lee Central travels to Pageland on Friday to take on Central.
East Clarendon and Scott's Branch will both play host to ranked 1A teams in region contests on Friday.
East Clarendon will take on No. 4 Lake View in a Region VI showdown at Shad Hall Field. Hemingway, another Region VI foe, is No. 2.
Scott's Branch will face No. 10 Bethune-Bowman at Earnest Spann Stadium in a Region V meeting. C.E. Murray, another Region V team, is ranked seventh.
