Sumter Today: Bates Middle School gets its first full-time therapy dog

Posted

Kelly Snell is a special education teacher at Bates Middle School, and she recently has been having a therapy dog from Paws for Friendship come visit her students. Sparky made them feel so comfortable that they are now reading out loud, which they would never do before. It made Snell want to get a permanent therapy dog for her classroom and the school, and we recently went to meet Bantam, a 12-week-old Miniature Schnauzer who is with her students every day now.
