Sumter woman, 87, dies from injuries after Saturday wreck

An 87-year-old woman from Sumter succumbed on Monday to injuries she sustained in a wreck over the weekend east of downtown.

Aline Rhame passed away at Palmetto Health Richland two days after she was involved in the collision on Oswego Highway at Charlotte Avenue, according to Bryan Rogers, Sumter County’s chief deputy coroner, in a news release.

The Sumter Police Department is investigating the accident, for which no additional details on the circumstances or others involved were immediately available.

Rogers said an autopsy will be performed on Tuesday, Nov. 14 in Newberry and that Rhame’s family has been notified.
