Sumter woman dies after single vehicle wreck

A Sumter woman was killed as a result of a single vehicle wreck on Boulevard Road near Plowden Mill Road early Saturday morning.

Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker identified the deceased as Robin Nicole Davis, 31, of Jordan Street in Sumter.

An initial investigation indicates the 2012 Chevrolet Impala driven by Davis went off the left side of the road and flipped multiple times just before  6:45 a.m., said Tonyia McGirt, public information officer for Sumter Police Department.

Davis was pronounced dead at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

She was not wearing a seatbelt, and alcohol may have been a contributing factor, McGirt said.

A news release from the coroner's office states Davis' next of kin have been notified and an autopsy will be scheduled for a later date in Newberry.
