A Sumter woman died as a result of a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 95 near mile marker 152 in Florence County early Thursday morning.

South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Judd Jones said the collision happened about 5:45 a.m. when Jenetta Arthur Reddick, 53, and the 22-year-old driver of a 2007 Pontiac both slowed for traffic and switched lanes on Interstate 95.

The Pontiac driver switched lanes first, followed by Reddick, driving a 2004 Kia four-door, who side-swiped the Pontiac.

Jones said both vehicles went off the left side of the roadway, and Reddick's vehicle struck a tree. She was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

Jones said the driver of the Pontiac was not injured.

The incident is still under investigation.
