Sylvia A. Blas, 63, of Sumter, wife of Joseph E. Blas, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at Palmetto Health Tuomey.

Friends and family are invited to attend her visitation on Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at James A. Dyal Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at First Church of God, 10383 U.S. 78, Summerville, SC 29483. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Park.

Sylvia was born on April 12, 1954, in Valdosta, Georgia, daughter of the late Ernie Clayton and Loretta Clayton. She graduated in 1972 from Valdosta High School. She then went on to receive her LPN Nursing degree from Valdosta Tech. She loved quilt making and singing/playing guitar. Most of all she enjoyed volunteering at United Ministries in Sumter.

Survivors including her husband, Joseph, are: four daughters, Keri Eason (Chad) of Valdosta, Valerie Mattocks (David) of Jacksonville, Florida, Leslie Staples of San Antonio, Texas, and KelleyJo Bruenning (Mike) of Navarre, Florida; one son, Timothy Bland (Missy) of Quitman, Georgia; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Russell Clayton of Statenville, Georgia, and Leslie Clayton of Florida; and one sister, Vicky Bland (Jim) of Florida. Sylvia was predeceased by one brother, Owen Clayton.
