The silent, patient wait

A Great Blue Heron waits for fish to swim by at Swan Lake-Iris Gardens on a recent Sunday evening. According to audubon.org, the Great Blue is the largest heron in North America. The bird can thrive near all types of waters and, because of its easily adapted diet, is able to spend winters farther north than most other herons.
