Thomas Ivory Jones, 79, son of the late Albert "Bo" Oliver and Leola Jones, was born on June 21, 1939, in Sumter.

Thomas was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018.

Thomas, affectionately called "Jonesy," was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and was a graduate of Scott Branch High School, Class of 1958.

On Sept. 18, 1960, Thomas married Pennie Louise Jackson and shortly thereafter they moved to Harlem, New York, where they resided and remained devoted life partners for 54 years until her passing.

Thomas began his career as a bus driver in August 1967 for 17 years and later became a dispatcher for MaBSTOA/MTA. He retired in August 2007 after 40 years of hard work and dedication at the Michael J. Quill depot.

He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter, Cheryl Mofield; his son, Michael Jones (Debra); three granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; four nieces; his sister, Janie Jones-Major; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Celebration of life services will be held at 2 p.m. on today at the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St. in Sumter, with the Rev. Joseph Ricks as officiator and eulogist.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park, 802 N. Guignard Drive in Sumter.

Services are directed by the management and staff of Williams Funeral Home Inc., 821 N. Main St. in Sumter.
