Thomas Sumter Academy students serve community with holiday help, cheer

Posted

At Thomas Sumter Academy, there is more to learning than bricks, mortar and books. During this season, members of Thomas Sumter Academy's Middle School took time out of their busy schedule to visit several places in Sumter as a part of serving their community as principled servant leaders. Sixth-graders visited BlueRidge of Sumter (formerly Hopewell) as well as Sumter East Health and Rehab Center. Seventh-graders visited Gardens at Sumter (formerly McElveen Manor) and NHC. Eighth-graders served at John K. Crosswell Home for Children. All of them were engaged in working outside putting Christmas lights up, putting Christmas trees up and singing Christmas carols with residents of the different facilities they visited. All the students saw this as an opportunity to serve and "pay it forward."
