Tory Lashaun Shaw, 36, affectionately known as "Silk," departed this life peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, Oct. 15, 2017.
Born on April 16, 1981, in Sumter County, he was a son of Barbara Ann Mobley Shaw and the late James Shaw Jr. During the early years of his life, Tory joined Quinn Chapel AME Church, where he received Jesus Christ as his Savior. Tory graduated from Sumter High School in 2000. He later attended Benedict College and Devry University, where he received an Associate of Arts degree as well as a degree in information technology.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his mother, Barbara Ann Mobley Shaw; one brother, Vincent (Paula) Shaw of Lansdale, Pennsylvania; two sisters, Patricia (Shawn) Pringle and Deborah Shaw, both of Sumter; four uncles; three aunts; a special cousin, Jauan Cabbagestalk; one niece; three nephews; a host of other relatives and friends.
The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 533 W. Calhoun St., Sumter.
Homegoing celebration will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at ALIVE Praise & Worship Center & Ministries, 342 W. Liberty St., Sumter, with the Rev. James Goodman, pastor, and Pastor Cynthia Moses-Nedd, eulogist.
The remains will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.
The funeral procession will leave at 10:20 a.m. from the home.
Interment will be at Hillside Memorial Park, 3001 Cains Mill Road, Sumter.
