TSA volleyball opens with win; Barons fall

DALZELL - The Thomas Sumter Academy varsity volleyball team opened its season with a 3-1 victory over Trinity-Byrnes on Wednesday at Edens Gymnasium.

The Lady Generals won by the scores of 21-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-15.

Karleigh Young led TSA with 15 kills and six blocks. Sydney Daniel had 18 assists, eight kills and eight aces, while Logan Scruggs had 10 assists and Maci Willetts had Lindsay Daniel each had five kills.

In the junior varsity match, T-B won by the scores of 25-18, 25-15.

COLUMBIA - Wilson Hall lost to Hammond 3-1 on Tuesday at the Hammond gymnasium.

The Lady Barons fell to 1-3 on the season.

West Florence 6

Sumter 0

Sumter High School fell to 0-2 on the season with a 6-0 loss to West Florence on Wednesday at the SHS courts.

On Tuesday in Sumter, the Lady Gamecocks lost to Manning 5-1.
