Chief Warrant Officer Tyrone Graves, affectionately known as "T-Tyme," was born on June 20, 1969, in Sumter. He departed this earthly life on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019, at Sentara Regional Medical Hospital in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Tyrone Graves was a son of Annie Mae McCray Graves and the late James Herbert Graves. Tyrone attended the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Furman High School in 1987. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1988. During his early years of life, Chief Warrant Office 3 Graves was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church, in which he considered his church home. Tyrone was also a member of William Prince Hall Masonic Lodge in Chicago. Chief Warrant Officer 3 Graves was joined in holy matrimony to Debra "Dayna" Garrett-Graves.

He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Debra "Dayna" Garrett-Graves of Chesapeake, Virginia; his mother, Annie Mae McCray Graves of Sumter; four brothers, James R. Graves of Sumter, Herbert L. Graves (Kimberly) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Eric Graves of Hopkins and Maurice Graves of Sumter; one sister, Felisha S. Graves of Sumter; 10 sisters-in-law, Patricia (Tony) Bolar of Magnolia, Texas, Katherine Harris of Beaufort, Brinda (Robert) Massey of Jacksonville, North Carolina, Phylecia (Levi) Rivers of Beaufort, Willie Mae (Bari) Williams of Columbus, Georgia, Ronnie (Daniel) Brock of Falls Church, Virginia, Melissa (Tyrone) Moultrie of Greenville, Dorothy (Andrew) Pinkney of Huger, Hannah Garrett of Charleston and Carolyn Garrett of Atlanta; one brother-in-law, Kane (Sherry) Dunbar of Montgomery, Texas; two godchildren, Eric Graves Jr. of Irmo and Devyn Hall of Magnolia; two special aunts, Annietti China and Janetti McFadden, both of Sumter; four paternal aunts; his best friends, Jerry Howard of Chicago and Charles Courtney of Baltimore; his four-legged companions, Taz and Dallas Graves; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his father, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Graves was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Herbert and Lizzie Johnson Graves; maternal grandparents, Albert and Lillian McCray; a niece, Taylen Wilson; six uncles; and one aunt.

Public viewing will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. today at Job's Mortuary.

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Graves will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. on Wednesday for viewing until the hour of service.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. at Mulberry Missionary Baptist Church, 1400 Mulberry Church Road, Sumter, SC 29153 with Pastor Leroy Blanding officiating and Dr. Nate Brock, eulogist. Interment will follow at Mulberry Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 1246 Mooneyham Road, Sumter, SC 29153.
