United States Marshals and the New Haven Police Department in Connecticut are offering a combined reward of $30,000 leading to the arrest of a man who has ties to South Carolina and is wanted in connection with a fatal shooting and an attempted strangling.

Tramaine Marquise Poole, 42, is wanted in the May 31 shooting death of Tyekqua Nesbitt and has an arrest warrant for a shooting incident that occurred on May 7 in New Haven, when Poole attempted to kill his estranged wife. Both incidents are thought to be connected, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service.

New Haven Police responded to a reported shooting at 10:16 p.m. on May 31 at the corner of Wilmot Road and Wintergreen Avenue in New Haven. When officers arrived, they found Nesbitt, a 28-year-old female, had been fatally shot in her car. The victim’s two young children, ages 6 and 11, were in the car with her when she was shot but were physically unharmed. Detectives think the victim was targeted by the shooter and have identified Poole as the shooter. Poole has ties to Fitchburg, Massachusetts; Jersey City, New Jersey; New York City; North Carolina and South Carolina; Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Philadelphia; Arizona; and Georgia.

According to the release, Poole is a black male described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 160 pounds with a medium complexion and short black hair. He has tattoos on both arms and may be wearing a dreadlock wig as a disguise.

Any information provided to authorities will be considered confidential. Anyone with information should contact the U.S. Marshals at 1-877-Wanted-2 (1-877-926-8332). Poole should be considered armed and dangerous. Individuals should not attempt to arrest Poole themselves.
