URSULA VOGEL GUEST

Posted

Ursula Vogel Guest, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2020.

Ursula was born on Oct. 30, 1934, in Aisch, Germany, where she was raised on a farm. After World War II, she left Germany at the young age of 17 and briefly lived in England. She then sailed to the United States, entering the Port at Ellis Island, to become a U.S. citizen. She achieved her childhood dream.

While working as a bank teller in Dayton, Ohio, she met the love of her life, U.S. Air Force Airman Steve Guest. They married in 1957 and raised four boys. They traveled and lived all over the world, before retiring in Sumter. Ursula loved volunteering for the American Red Cross. She did this while being a mother and the wife of a service member. After retirement, she also volunteered at various clinics, including the pharmacy and optometry clinics at Shaw Air Force Base. She was a friend to all animals her entire life. Over the years, she had several pets. Ursula cared for all the stray cats in her neighborhood and even a few opossums.

Ursula was a loving wife to the late Steve Guest for 63 years. She was the proud mother to the late Steve Jr. (Sue), John (Cindy), Mike (Ritamaria) and Jeff (Lorene). She was the best Oma ever to Becky, Christina (Chad), Bobbie (Arthur), Johnny, Nicole (Emerson), Cody, Brianna and Holley; and she was an even better Great Oma to Allison, Avery, Izzy, Ian and Myka.
