LUGOFF - Funeral service for Wallace Eugene Hancock, 88, formerly of Lee County, will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday at St. John United Methodist Church, Spring Hill, with burial to follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at Powers Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to St. John United Methodist Church, 3919 Spring Hill Road, Rembert, SC 29128.

Mr. Hancock passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2018.

Born in Lee County, he was a son of the late Wallace and Bessie Cook Hancock. He served in the Army National Guard and retired from DuPont, where he was a control equipment technician. He was a longtime poultry and row crop farmer. He was also a former guard at Wateree Corrections. Mr. Hancock was a lifelong member of St. John United Methodist, where he had served on the official board and sang with the choir. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 1888.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon J. Hancock; son, Michael Eugene Hancock (Sherry) of Lugoff; daughter, Janet Marie Bowers of Hanahan; stepchildren, Brenda Bradley (Brent), Jenny Dailey (Allen), Rhonda Hall (Phil) and Bryan Holloman (Lisa); 14 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Katherine G. Hancock; and brother, Fairley Hancock.
