We support Disney for Sumter School Board at-large seat

Bonnie has a career dedicated to public education. She taught in our Sumter public schools for many years. Prior to that, she taught in public schools in Texas, Arizona, California and Ohio as well as DOD schools in Turkey and Japan while her husband was a career Air Force officer. She and Vern have five children. All are public school graduates.

She has numerous advanced college degrees in education as well as a law degree - she is a member of the SC Bar; however, she has always chosen to teach. Education is her passion.

After retiring from teaching, she has worked as a specialist and advisor to various districts around to the state. Prior to beginning her service on the Sumter School Board, she was appointed by the Sumter Legislative Delegation to serve for four years on the State School Board.

Sumter is fortunate to have someone who brings such a passion to her chosen profession, educating our young people.

Remember, the responsibility of the board is to determine and approve policy. Further, it is to oversee and hold the administration of the district accountable. Bonnie has the experience, insight and persistence to understand all aspects of the district's operations including the finances as well as the instructional programs.

Bonnie Disney is a leader, but she can be a great team member as well. Most important, when she sees something that is not right, she has the confidence and courage to speak up and speak out.
